The First Outdoor Water Features

The First Outdoor Water Features The water from creeks and other sources was originally supplied to the occupants of nearby communities and cities through water fountains, whose purpose was primarily practical, not artistic. A source of water higher in elevation than the fountain was required to pressurize the movement and send water spraying from the fountain's spout, a technology without equal until the late 19th century. The elegance and spectacle of fountains make them ideal for traditional memorials. Rough in design, the very first water fountains did not look much like modern-day fountains. The first recognized water fountain was a natural stone basin created that was used as a receptacle for drinking water and ceremonial purposes. The original stone basins are thought to be from around 2000 B.C.. The spray of water appearing from small spouts was pushed by gravity, the only power source designers had in those days. These ancient water fountains were created to be functional, frequently situated along reservoirs, creeks and rivers to furnish drinking water. Animals, Gods, and spectral figures dominated the early ornate Roman fountains, beginning to show up in about 6 BC.First Outdoor Water Features 5593667598.jpg The people of Rome had an intricate system of aqueducts that supplied the water for the countless fountains that were placed throughout the urban center.

Symbolizing beauty to the Greeks, the kouroi were made to appear rigid and commonly had foot forward; the males were vigorous, sturdy, and naked. The kouroi became life-sized starting in 650 BC. The Archaic period was an incredible time of change for the Greeks as they extended into new forms of government, formed fresh expressions of art, and attained insights of the men and women and cultures outside of Greece.Attributes Garden Sculpture Archaic Greece 78155509601239135727.jpg However, the Greek civilization was not slowed down by these fights.
